WILL THE EMPEROR GETS NEW CLOTHES IN KOTOR?

30/6/2019 | 0 Comments

Another year that will be marked by the most wonderful summer festival in Europe, and certainly more widely still. Traditionally, from July 1 - 12, Kotor Festival of Theatre for children brings together all the theater viewers and connoisseurs, both big and small, and takes them to an unforgettable adventure through the town of Kotor.

This year, our mission is to, besides Kotor, Europe, world, universe, conquer the Moon, with our imagination, and on this trip, The Emperor’s New Clothes, a coproduction by Herceg Novi Theatre and Herceg Fest will be joining us.
The Emperor’s New Clothes is a play tailored through games. We dreamed about making a show about politics for children. All the things for adults are also for children, including politics, the only issue is how to present them to children. The Emperor’s New Clothes therefore became a game with serious themes. We wanted to expose all these topics for adults: power, subjects, politics, elections, programs, democracy, despotism, revolution…to expose the functioning mechanism. Yes, these things are often scary, sometimes funny and mainly farcical, just like in Andersen’s tales. And just like his tales often don’t have a happy ending, they offer hope, invitations, solutions, but no resolution, that is up to us.

The show is directed by Petar Pejaković, and the cast are: Dejan Đonović, Goran Slavić, Miloš Pejović and Slaviša Grubiša.

Dear friends, what adventures and bold endeavours will our cast go through in these 80 minutes, you can see on Friday, July 12, at 9 p.m. at the Summer Stage in Kotor. The play is recommended for children of 8 years and above, and for all of those in the mood for a great adventure. This show will be the last one of this year’s Theatre program and therefore, free entrance.
