Here we have another year that will be marked by the most wonderful summer festival in Europe, and quite certainly even wider. Traditionally, from July 1 - 12, Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children gathers all the theater viewers and connoisseurs, both big and small, and takes them to an unforgettable adventure through the town of Kotor.
This year we have a mission to, in addition to Kotor, Europe, world and universe, conquer the Moon too with our imagination, and on this trip, City Theatre Podgorica will join us.
We will start the mission A Trip to the Moon a bit unconventionally, by opening with a show from our revue program – IVO VIZIN: The Captain of Dreams. This play was created as a co-production by City Theatre Podgorica, Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children and Nikola Đurković Cultural Centre. We think that it is appropriate to start this year’s adventure with an incredible story that took place in our very own Kotor.
Based on the text by Jelena Lela Milošević, awarded by ASSITEJ Montenegro as the best drama text for children and youth in 2017 and directed by Zoran Rakočević, it premiered in Ivo’s hometown on December 5, 2018. The show’s cast includes Vule Marković, Jelena Simić, Sanja Popović, Miloš Pejović, Goran Slavić, Branka Femić, Pavle Popović and Pavle Ilić. To make the story of our most famous captain as splendid as possible, drama writer Dragana Tripković, scenographer Smiljka Šeparović-Radonjić, costume designer Dragica Laušević, composer Nemanja Bečanović and choreographer Slavka Nelević gave their contribution as well.
We do not want to reveal too much about the show itself, but we will share one of the lessons of this story with you. For everyone who sees this play, Vizin's vision should serve as a hope that it is possible to make our dreams come true only if we sincerely and strongly believe in them. On this magical journey of dreams and desires, we must never forget the family and friends who are always our biggest supporters. Join us at the traditional Festival’s opening ceremony, to sail with Ivo Vizin to new adventures, on Monday July 1, at 9 p.m. at the Summer Stage in Kotor.
