For the first time, our Festival will welcome guest thetre from Scotland - Tortoise in a Nutshell Theatre from Edinburgh. An award winning theatre, Tortoise in a Nutshell will present two productions to our audience - FISK, in coproduction with Theater Katapult from Denmark and Macrobert Art Centre, recommended for age 12+; and THE LOST THINGS recommended for age 9+. FISK, authored by Tortoise in a Nutshell and Ann Sofie Oxenvad, directed by Ross Mackay, is about a tiny boat, which is tossed through rolling waves and thundering storms, like a speck amidst the immense turbulent seas. Steadily rowing forward into the nothingness is a fisherman, driven by despair, sailing to nowhere with all his worldly possessions. He looks out as the darkness looms and prepares himself to leap… But before he can jump out, something else jumps in; a mass of color thrashing about the tiny boat. This uninvited guest has finally broken through the surface to discover what lies above. Fisk is a story of a man and a fish, and the unexpected impact they have upon one another.

The City Theatre Podgorica will remind us of the meaning of love through a dramatic puppet romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet inspired by Shakespeare’s piece. The theatrical adaptation by director Emilija Mrdaković will introduce the fight of the youth to illuminate the ‘’dark’’ world in which they grow. It’s very hard to cope with the vicious world and a system in which all that matters is to be successful, to own, consume, hate, and destroy. In the background of the image of such a world, the love of Romeo and Juliet and their special, divine gift to love, rises to the surface, as unreal. This show, intended for the age 10+, is also recommended to each and every romantic and misunderstood soul, and will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Summer Stage, at 9:30 p.m.

The Virovitica Theatre from Croatia, in a cooperation with the Zadar Puppet Theatre, have prepared an interpretation based on the story An Invisible Girl, written by Maja Prelević, that will enhance our Main theatre program. The theatrical adaptation, directed by Nikola Zavišić gave a breath of life to the creatively designed puppets without which this story wouldn't become a reality. An invisible Girl creates, out of rebellion, her own world, world opposite of the one strongly adhered by her parents. In responding to the parents' obsession with order, obedience, and everyday rituals focused mainly on material values, the Invisible girl proclaims strongly and defiantly - with disorder and disobedience- a loud and clear NO!

Our guests from Ukraine – Kyiv Municipal Puppet Theater prepared a new delightful adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's story of How the elephant got his trunk. The theatrical adaptation by director Mykhailo Uryskyi and the creative scenery and African styled outfits by set designer Mykola Danko give a fresh, vibrant look to this classic story. The performance settles down to focus on the Elephant’s Child with a "satiable curiosity" about everything that he sees, hears, feels, smells, or touches. Such curiosity opens up new ideas, knowledge, and abilities, even though everyone tells him to stop, with a spanking each time.

Italian troupes Factory Company Transadriatica from Lecce and TIR Danza from Modena interpreted in an interesting way the well-known story by H.C. Andersen – An Ugly Duckling. The performance The Diary of an Ugly Duckling, by combining theater and dance with a simple, evocative narrative from the classic fairy tale by H.C. Andersen, investigates diversity, identity, and integration.

For our youngest audience, aged from 18 months to 5 years, Benoît Sicat, a French visual artist, will perform an interactive show called The Garden of Possible. Using creativity and play as principles for the exploration of the world and for self-construction, as well as utilizing primitive and always contemporary materials - wood, pebbles, leaves, terracotta, objects that will outlive us, the author creates this interactive show. There is no dramaturgy, no pedagogy, no morality, no judgment, no hierarchy. However, there is this mirror, as in any spectacle. Right here, children and adults are on the same plateau, a common territory. We build the city together. No soundtrack, no lyrics. The only rule that imposes itself on all of us is to do as much as possible with as little as possible.
