Here we have another year that will be marked by the most wonderful summer festival in Europe, and quite certainly even wider. Traditionally, from July 1 - 12, Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children gathers all the theater viewers and connoisseurs, both big and small, and takes them to an unforgettable adventure through the town of Kotor.
This year we have a mission to, in addition to Kotor, Europe, world and universe, conquer the Moon too with our imagination, and on this trip, we will present you our co-production with Nikola Đurković Cultural Centre and in partnership with Drama studio Prazan prostor.
Make-believe – A Lecture on substitutes is a lecture-performance intended for children and youth, and based on motifs from an animated film The Substitute by Dušan Vukotić. The film from 1961 is a satirical comment on the social moment of the time. However, today, when direct experiences have vanished from our lives and the substitutes have become a norm for everything but breathing, it appears to be devastatingly current. With our heads deep in social media, we have never been lonelier. Grasping the world and accepting it as normal is hard, but changing it is impossible, since that would mean: going against history. Still, alternative must be found, and we are looking for it. Vukotić’s film is a basis and inspiration for a multimedia and interactive performance which speaks about ideas, loneliness, emotions and imagination. Using performance and theatre means, we insist on sensory and tangible experiences and we convey the idea of creation as the ultimate substitute (ironically) which brings salvation from the substitute itself. Author and cast team are Mirko Radonjić, direction and visual identity, Nina Perović, composer and Marija Backović, assistant director.
The show will be performed on Sunday, July 7, at 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. in Nikola Đurković Cultural Centre. Around 45 minutes long, the show is recommended for children aged 8 and above. The audience number is limited.
Our dear astronauts, who are in love with the theatre and the world of play and art, join us to once again, enjoy Kotor Festival of Theatre for Children this summer and to take a trip to the Moon together!
